Privacy Policy -Reticle
Last updated: 2026-06-14
Reticle ("the App") is a desktop overlay utility for Windows that provides a customizable crosshair and an optical zoom lens. This policy explains what data the App accesses, what (if anything) leaves your device, and why.
1. Data Stored Locally Only
The following information is stored only on your computer and is never transmitted anywhere:
- Settings and profiles -crosshair styles, zoom configuration, hotkeys,
and game-profile associations. Stored in an encrypted local config file
via
electron-store. - Custom crosshair images -any PNG/SVG/WebP you import are copied into your local app-data folder.
- Screen capture for the zoom lens -when the zoom overlay is enabled, Reticle captures your screen using the OS-level Windows Graphics Capture / Desktop Duplication API to render the magnified lens. This video is processed entirely in memory on your device, is never written to disk, and is never sent over the network.
2. Data Sent to Our Servers
Reticle communicates with authorize.software for exactly two purposes:
- License activation -if you enter a license key, the key, a hashed machine identifier (derived from your hostname, OS, and architecture - not personally identifying on its own), and your device's hostname are sent to validate and activate your license. This also occurs if you deactivate a license.
- Software updates -the App periodically checks
authorize.softwarefor new version manifests and downloads installer files when you choose to update.
No other servers are contacted. Reticle does not include analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs, and does not collect telemetry about your usage, gameplay, or system beyond what's described above.
3. Game Detection
To automatically switch profiles, Reticle periodically checks the name of
the foreground application's executable (e.g. cs2.exe) using public
Windows APIs (GetForegroundWindow). This information stays local and is
used only to match against your configured profiles -it is never
transmitted.
4. Global Input Hooks
Reticle uses a low-level mouse hook (uiohook-napi) solely to detect clicks
for crosshair "bloom" animation and scroll-wheel zoom adjustment. This input
data is processed locally in real time and is never logged, stored, or
transmitted.
5. Third-Party Services

6. Data Retention & Deletion
- Local settings and license data can be erased at any time via
Settings → Reset to Defaults, or by deleting the app's data folder
(
